Google Privacy Issues

google logo

I’ve long been a fan of Google Products. Services such as GMail are far ahead of their competitors and offers many features, ease of use and speed with an unbeatable price tag. Still, I’m not very happy with the way Google handles my Privacy. It appears that you’ll have to choose. Either all the way in or out.

The problem starts with unwanted Google Services such as Google Wave. Many of us have discovered that there’s no apparent way to delete the Service from the Google Account. The privacy policy only states the following:

Will my Google Wave account be deleted if I don’t use it?

Google may delete your account after 9 months of inactivity.

Nobody is really sure whether this only applies to Google Wave as a Service or the Google Account itself. As I mentioned earlier on, the only known way to get rid of the Service is to completely delete your Google account which seems a little bit too far for many of us.

I’ve decided to send a EMail to Google to find out myself. Unfortunately I have been unable to find the ‘correct’ EMail address to send such concerns so I had to make use of the ‘press’ address.

Let’s see whether there will be any response and whether we’ll see any actions.

Have you encountered similar problems with Google Products or just don’t bother about all these? Let me know in the comment section!

A suggestion on the side. If you don’t want Google to take over, you may try alternative Search Machines such as || http://www.webcrawler.com/ || or || http://www.yauba.com/ || Especially webcrawler is interesting as it pulls it’s search result from different providers such as Google.
