Blackberry 9700 Bold Mac Tethering (Singtel)
If you have ever tried to tether your Blackberry to a Mac, you might have encountered a few issues. To make it easier for everybody to tether the Bold 9700 over Bluetooth and USB, I’ve put together this guide.
Before you get started, download the Blackberry Desktop Software for Mac from the Official Homepage. Before you proceed with the below steps, make sure the software is installed and the Mac recognizes the Blackberry.
For USB Tethering
1. Make sure the Blackberry is connected to the Mac
2. Open Network Preferences and look for ‘RIM Composite Device’

3. Enter the following settings
Telephone Number: *99#
Account Name: 65IDEAS
Password: ideas
4. Click on the ‘Advanced Tab’ and enter the following

Vendor: Research In Motion
Model: Blackberry IP Modem (CDMA)
APN: e-ideas
5. Press OK and then Apply
6. Connect to the Internet with the ‘Connect’ button.
For Bluetooth Tethering
1. Pair the Blackberry with the Mac
2. Open Bluetooth Preferences
3. Select the just paired Device and klick the Button right of the ‘-’
4. It should look something like this.

Make sure one of the options shows (if not, choose it)
Protocol: Modem
Service: Dialup Networking
Show in Network Preferences Choose this!
5. Apply the Settings
6. Go to Network Preferences and select the just created Bluetooth Service
7. Enter the following Settings
Telephone Number : *99#
Account Name: 65IDEAS
Password: ideas
8. Klick on the ‘Advanced’ button and enter the following
Vendor: Research in Motion
Model: Blackberry IP Modem (CDMA)
APN: e-ideas
9. Press OK and Apply.
10. Connect to the internet using ‘Connect’
Please be warned! Make sure you have a good Data plan before trying Tethering! This can be quite Data-Intesive and might therefore end up in high bills!
